Bonding over techno beyond genre classification
One of the most well-known and genuine artists in Greece with continuous appearances at international festivals and venues. Perfectly balanced between producing and dj-ing his excellent technical abilities place him among the most exciting figures that emerged from the local scene in recent years.
Nature EP
Next up on Kuukou is Greek producer George Adi who follows up releases on SCI-TEC, Tronic and EXTIMA with a punchy but patient 2-tracker. ‘Nature’ kicks things off with some stripped but effervescent Techno. A heady mood blooms like a live jam as machines breathe and the audio steadily flows with a certain purposeful freedom. Sturdy drums build up in layers, forging a flexible groove that bounces with infectious elasticity while synths fly by like lights blurred in motion. What develops is machine-induced hypnosis – a subtle spell that’ll grip the attention of the floor and inject a charge of anticipation. ‘Force’ follows up with some more masterful Minimal. Tight, compact drums are dropped in and out while synths send out beams as they rise and fall over the horizon. A momentum builds slowly but very surely as parameters are constantly tweaked and tugged and the result is a smart slice of captivating club music.
